"A brick-red plaid, hand-knotted in soft New Zealand wool - the windowpane grid that makes a living room feel finished, layered and quietly lived-in.
HOW IT IS MADE
Every knot is tied by hand in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur weaving belt of India: 100% New Zealand wool pile on a cotton foundation, using the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving. The drawing is a plaid, not a floral Oushak, but the wool, knot and soft finish match our Oushak-style pieces. No latex, no adhesive, no tufting; the fringe is the warp itself.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. Field: brick red #852E2C, moving #741E1D to #983E3D. Grid: chestnut brown #57281C. Pinstripes: apricot sand #D39980. Roughly 68% red, 22% chestnut, 10% apricot, with a natural oat fringe. Red and brown sit close in value, so the plaid reads as warm texture from across the room and sharpens into a grid up close.

THE DESIGN
A windowpane tartan: five vertical and seven horizontal bands over an open red field, with no border, so the grid runs cleanly to every edge. Each band pairs apricot pinstripes between chestnut rules, crossing into small woven hashes. At 8x10 it anchors a sofa and two armchairs, front legs on the rug.
