HOW IT IS MADE
Knotted by hand on a cotton foundation in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, with the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian and Ottoman weaving, wrapped around two warps so the pile holds its line for decades. No latex, no adhesive, no tufting; the fringe is the cotton warp itself.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. The open field is warm ivory, #E7D5BE, at 57%; the main border ground soft clay pink, #CCAFA5, at 19%. The drawing runs in antique clay rose #B08880 (11%), deep madder red #8A5450 (6%) and soft blush #C39F96 (5%), ivory-white fringe the last 2%. That split is what makes it liveable - a field this pale reads as light floor rather than pattern, while the clay border draws a firm line from across the room.
If you follow 2026 palettes: designers are calling softly faded vintage grounds the story of the year, and this is the grandmillennial floor without the chintz.
THE DESIGN
Ottoman court floral in the fine-line Hereke tradition, not the broad angular medallions of an Oushak. A bouquet medallion opens at the centre, throwing blossom sprays along four axes, answered by four corner spandrel sprays. The border is a slim meandering stem of buds and slender leaves between twin guard lines - and the open field is what lets a busy drawing sit quietly in a furnished room.
