"A chili red Turkish Oushak rug in hand-knotted New Zealand wool, framed in sunflower gold - the warm statement a pale living room has been waiting for.
HOW IT IS MADE
Knotted by hand on a cotton foundation by weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh. The pile is 100% New Zealand wool, tied with the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving. No latex, no adhesive, no machine tufting. The fringe is the warp itself.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. Field: chili red (#763727), a deep rust-red that stays warm in daylight. Border: sunflower gold (#A47F4C). Accents: jade sage, laurel green guards (#3F412C), ivory blossoms (#C9BCA2) and cherrywood maroon (#441B12). Red fills about 59% of the field and gold about a fifth of the rug, so it reads as a red rug in a gold frame - not a beige one. Gentle tonal movement, as hand-dyed wool shows.

THE DESIGN
An Anatolian Oushak floral in the Ottoman export tradition. From a jade centre roundel, slender stems radiate like a sunburst, each tipped with ivory blossoms. Sunflower and chrysanthemum blooms anchor the sides, and the gold border alternates red rosettes with ivory cartouches along a curling vine. At home in a traditional, English country or eclectic room, with leather, walnut and brass.
