"A terracotta green rug for the room that already has the plants: burnt sienna wool and bottle green stacked forms, hand knotted to hold an 8x10 seating group.
HOW IT IS MADE
Every knot is tied by hand on a cotton foundation in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur weaving belt of Uttar Pradesh. We use the Turkish Ghiordes knot, the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving. No latex, no glued backing, no machine tufting; the fringe is the warp itself. This colourway is knotted to order in about 45 days.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. The field is burnt sienna terracotta, #81402C, about 61 percent of the surface. The motifs are a deep bottle green moving between #0C1B0F and #2F4133, about 39 percent. No beige, no cream. With a 60/40 split and a green nearly as dark as ink, the pattern reads from across the room.
If you follow 2026 palettes: Glidden chose Warm Mahogany and Dunn-Edwards chose Midnight Garden, a deep muted green. This rug puts both ideas on the floor.
THE DESIGN
Seven vertical rows of stacked, lathe-turned forms run the length of the rug - discs, spheres, spools and a vessel-shaped foot - like a shelf of studio pottery. A band of nine green blocks closes each end, with no border, so the terracotta runs to the edge. Graphic enough for a new build, warm enough for an older house.
