"A 9x12 bass fish rug for the dining room, hand knotted in New Zealand wool with navy and moss green fish crossing a warm camel tan ground.
HOW IT IS MADE
Knotted by hand in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur weaving belt of Uttar Pradesh: 100% New Zealand wool pile on a cotton foundation, tied with the Turkish Ghiordes knot, the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving. No latex, no adhesive, no machine tufting. The fringe is the warp itself.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. The field is camel tan (#BC976A), a warm camel-beige covering about 44% of the surface. The fish are navy blue (#2B3746), moss green (#676D4E) and slate blue (#68707B), outlined in charcoal with ivory and rust-peach highlights. That 44/56 split of warm ground to cool motif lets the fish read across a room while the tan keeps it calm.
If you follow 2026 palettes: camel neutrals with grounded greens, and animal motifs rooted in folk storytelling.
THE DESIGN
A folk pictorial in the Anatolian village spirit rather than a classic Oushak medallion: four large bass with patterned bodies and striped fins, a dozen smaller fish, two striped pebbles, an open field and a slim dark frame. The tan ground shows gentle tonal movement from hand-dyed wool. One playful, collected piece for a lakeside home, game room or kids room.
