"Woven on traditional pit looms in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India, this hand-knotted wool rug sets a deep espresso-brown field against an ivory and sand border. The all-over palmette lattice - stylised lotus and acanthus forms repeating in camel, taupe and cream - is drawn from Anatolian Oushak tradition, and it lands squarely in the Arts and Crafts / Craftsman vocabulary that American homes have loved for over a century. The border carries a stepped tree-of-life motif with rosette guard bands, so the piece frames itself on the floor.
KEY FEATURES
- Size: available in 5x8, 8x10, 9x12, 10x14 and a 2.5x13 runner. Custom sizes woven to order.
- Material: 100% New Zealand wool pile on a cotton foundation - long-staple, high-lanolin, and naturally soil-resistant thanks to the wool's own lanolin content.
- Construction: hand-knotted using the Turkish Ghiordes knot. No glue, no backing, no machine loom.
- Palette: espresso and dark walnut brown, ivory, sand, camel and soft taupe, with gentle tonal movement across the field where the yarn lots change.
- Underfoot: dense medium pile, soft but firm, low-shedding after the first few weeks of settling.
- Finish: the pattern reads clearly through to the reverse - the mark of a genuinely hand-knotted rug rather than a printed or tufted one.
