"Deep spruce blue wool, knotted by hand and ruled in loden and chalk: a 9x12 plaid carpet sized to hold a dining table for eight with every chair pulled out.
HOW IT IS MADE
Tied knot by knot on a cotton foundation by weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of India, using the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian, Ottoman and Oushak weaving. No latex, no adhesive, no machine tufting. The fringe is the warp itself. Knotted to order in about 45 days.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. Field: deep spruce blue (#364F54) across about 59% of the surface. Rules: loden olive (#666450), about 30%. Pinstripes: chalk cream (#B4B4A1), about 7%. Fringe: natural ivory. It reads as one calm blue-green from across the room and shows its tailoring up close. The wool shows gentle tonal movement.
If you follow 2026 palettes: Etsy's 2026 Color of the Year is Patina Blue, the weathered blue-green of aged copper. This rug sits at the deep, inky end of that family.
THE DESIGN
A windowpane overcheck in banded rules rather than a busy tartan: five vertical and seven horizontal bands, each a loden rule, twin chalk pinstripes and a second loden rule, with a woven hatch where they cross. No border - the pattern runs to the edge like a length of suiting cloth. It borrows from menswear tattersall and the Anatolian kilim weaver's clean stripe, and sits as easily beside a leather club chair as a nomadic tribal cushion.
