WOVEN, NOT MANUFACTURED
This is a hand knotted Turkish Oushak rug - tied one knot at a time on a cotton warp using the
symmetrical Ghiordes knot, the technique Anatolian weavers have used for centuries. Nothing about
it is printed, glued, or machine-backed. Turn it over and you will see the pattern read clearly
from the reverse, which is the simplest proof of a genuinely hand knotted piece.
THE COLORWAY
The field is a warm mushroom taupe - the greige that Forbes named 2026's defining interior
neutral - shot through with natural abrash, the gentle tonal striation that happens when
hand-dyed yarn is drawn from different dye lots. Across it sit large-scale Oushak palmettes and
rosettes in muted terracotta, powder-soft patina blue, wheat gold and sage greige, all framed by
an ivory cartouche border. The result is a neutral with depth: quiet enough to live under any
furniture, interesting enough to be the reason someone stops in the doorway.
MATERIAL AND CONSTRUCTION

New Zealand wool is the reason this rug will still look right in twenty years. Its long staple
and high lanolin content give the pile natural spring-back underfoot, resist soiling, and take
dye with a clarity that coarser wools cannot match.
WHERE IT LIVES
At 2.5 by 10 feet this runner is the corridor workhorse - long enough to carry a full hallway or galley kitchen without breaking the line, narrow enough to leave the 4-6 inches of visible flooring designers ask for on each side.
Wool is naturally flame-resistant and does not off-gas, which makes it a sound choice for
bedrooms, nurseries and homes with pets. Pair with a felt or natural rubber pad to protect both
the rug and the floor beneath it.
CARE
Vacuum without a beater bar. Blot spills promptly - lanolin gives wool a natural head start on
liquids. Rotate every six to twelve months for even wear, and have it professionally cleaned
every few years. Expect light shedding for the first few weeks; it settles.
