"Big enough for a dining table and every chair, this 9x12 teal Oushak carpet sets a patina blue field inside a rust red border of pink rosettes.
HOW IT IS MADE
Artisan weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India knot this carpet by hand. They tie the Turkish Ghiordes knot, a symmetrical double knot looped over two neighbouring warps, the same knot found in Anatolian tribal and nomadic rugs and in the Ottoman-era Oushak workshops. It is a dense pile carpet, not a flat kilim, hand-knotted in Turkish tradition over a cotton warp and weft.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. Our readings put the field at a deep patina teal, #374C50, and the wide border at ginger rust, #895C48. Pink, measured at #AF8D7C, carries the rosettes and the hollyhock sprays, while mimosa gold #AA8F65, ivory #D0CFC4 and pale sky blue pick out the palmettes and leaves. Teal covers roughly 28 percent, rust and pink about 14 percent each, so the rust frame defines a dining zone while the teal keeps the centre calm.
If you follow 2026 palettes: Patina Blue is Etsy's colour of the year, and rust has returned as its warm partner.
THE DESIGN
A pale ivory medallion throws out slender stems, each hung with small pink blooms like a hollyhock spire, in the Oushak branch of Ottoman floral design. Large Shah Abbasi palmettes in gold and soft pink flank the medallion on all four sides. The rust border repeats ivory and pink rosettes linked by gold scrolls, held between a blue-grey zigzag guard and a fine ivory diamond chain. A 9x12 fits a table for six to eight with chairs pulled out.

WHERE IT WORKS
