"Most 9x12s shout. This one hands a big room a wheat-bordered Donegal garden on an open pewter ground, and lets the furniture do the talking.
HOW IT IS MADE
Every knot is tied by hand on a cotton foundation in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India. The knot is the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving - which sets the pile upright so it wears evenly. Pile is 100% New Zealand wool. No latex, no backing, no machine tufting; the fringe is the cotton warp itself.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. The field reads #5E5B53, a warm pewter-grey with an olive undertone, at 48.9%; the main border #A3947F, a soft wheat-khaki, at 34.0%; motifs espresso #2F261C at 17.1%, over a cream #E9E3D7 warp fringe. The pewter recedes and holds furniture while the wheat border draws a clean edge. Gentle tonal movement runs through the field - not a hard abrash stripe.

THE DESIGN
The lineage is Arts and Crafts, not classical Oushak - the Donegal idiom of Gavin Morton and C.F.A. Voysey, where an open ground carries delicate naturalistic ornament instead of dense geometry. The motifs: a trailing vine scroll, drooping bellflowers, upright tulip sprays, lance leaves, corner spandrel sprays and a central garland, inside a foliate border. At 9x12 a ten-seat table sits fully on, chairs pulled out, border visible all four sides.
