"Nine by twelve feet of smoky forest green wool, hand knotted on a cotton foundation to carry a great room from wall to wall.
Sized 9 x 12 ft (approx. 274 x 366 cm) — scaled for a great room, an open-plan living area, or a dining table seating eight with chairs pulled fully clear.
WHAT THIS RUG ACTUALLY IS
Hand knotted one knot at a time using the Turkish Ghiordes (symmetrical) knot, on a cotton foundation, by weavers in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India. No latex, no glue, no machine backing. The fringe is the warp itself, continuing out of the rug — not sewn on afterward.
THE COLOUR, DESCRIBED HONESTLY
The field is a deep, smoky pine green — muted rather than vivid, closer to a forest floor in shade than to emerald. Framing it top and bottom are two lighter jade-sage end panels, each carrying rows of small ivory dots. A fine dotted line traces an inner frame around the open field, punctuated by ivory diamond lozenges and stylised cypress-tree motifs. Across the field there is gentle tonal movement where the hand-dyed yarn shifts batch to batch — subtle, not dramatic.
Because it is dyed and photographed by hand, expect slight variation between screen and floor.

WHY NEW ZEALAND WOOL
Most rugs in this price band use blended or regional wool. New Zealand fleece is whiter before dyeing, which is why these greens read clean rather than muddy, and its longer staple means less shed and a pile that recovers from furniture compression instead of matting flat.
