A celadon-green Oushak field bordered in antique gold — hand-knotted in 100% New Zealand wool, 8x10 ft, built to anchor a full living room.
"CONSTRUCTION
Hand-knotted one knot at a time using the Turkish Ghiordes (symmetrical) knot on a cotton foundation, in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur weaving belt of Uttar Pradesh, India. A rug this size takes a team of weavers several months on the loom. There is no latex backing and no glue anywhere in the construction — the pile is anchored by the knot itself, which is why a well-kept hand-knotted rug outlives the room it was bought for.
MATERIAL
100% New Zealand wool. It is the longest, springiest and lowest-lanolin wool used in rug making, which means three practical things: the pile resists crushing under furniture, it sheds very little after the first few weeks, and it naturally repels liquid long enough for most spills to be blotted before they set. It is hypoallergenic and holds dye beautifully — which is what gives this piece its depth of color.
COLORWAY
A soft celadon-green ground — the jade-adjacent green that Behr named its 2026 Color of the Year and that designers have been calling the new sage — framed by a wide antique gold and ochre border. Across the field, wine and burgundy palmettes, dusty rose vines, teal accents and ivory rosettes. A narrow ivory guard border separates field from border on all four sides. The palette lands squarely in the 2026 direction: earthy greens, warm metals, deep burgundy, and a decisive move away from beige.
The ground carries gentle abrash — the subtle tonal banding that happens when hand-spun yarn is dyed in small batches. It is a hallmark of authentic hand-knotted weaving, not a flaw.
