"HAND-KNOTTED IN THE TURKISH OUSHAK TRADITION
Every knot in this carpet is tied by hand on a cotton foundation using the Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical double knot that gives Anatolian Oushak weaving its density and its long life. There is no latex, no glue and no machine backing anywhere in the construction. The fringe is not sewn on afterwards; it is the warp of the loom itself, hand-finished at both ends. A rug built this way is fully reversible and, cared for reasonably, outlives the room you first put it in.
THE COLOURWAY
The field is a deep claret - a wine red that reads oxblood in low light and mulberry near a window. Across it, olive and antique-gold palmettes climb on serrated lancet leaves, framed by ivory guard bands in a reciprocal meander. Small aubergine cartouches, dusty-rose rosettes and slate-blue florets punctuate the pattern without breaking it. Look closely at the ground and you will see abrash: the soft horizontal striation that occurs when wool is dyed in small batches rather than one industrial lot. It is the signature of genuine hand-dyeing, and it is the reason no two of these carpets are identical.
WHY 100% NEW ZEALAND WOOL
New Zealand fleece is longer in staple and higher in natural lanolin than most carpet wool. In practice that means three things: the pile resists soiling because lanolin repels water and dirt before they can set; the rug sheds very little after the first few weeks; and the fibre takes deep dye with a dimensional quality that synthetics flatten. Wool is also naturally flame-retardant, hypoallergenic and a genuinely renewable fibre.

CARE
Vacuum without the beater bar. Rotate the rug every six months so light and traffic wear it evenly. Blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth - never rub. Use a quality rug pad on hard floors. Professional cleaning every three to five years is plenty.
