At 2.5x8 ft this is the entry and vestibule length. Entryways take three to five times the foot traffic of a living room, and this is exactly where a pale field rug shows scuffing within a season. A deep indigo ground solves that problem without giving up pattern or warmth.
Tied by hand, knot by knot, in the Turkish Ghiordes tradition — a deep indigo field held inside a warm ivory border, with polychrome flowers scattered across the blue in madder red, mustard gold, sage green, blush and terracotta.

The field is not a flat navy. Look down its length and you will see abrash: broad horizontal bands where the blue lifts toward slate and drops back toward ink. That happens because the yarn was dyed in small batches by hand, and each new batch met the loom at a slightly different strength. Machine-made rugs cannot do this.
