"WHAT THIS RUG IS
Hand-knotted one knot at a time on a cotton foundation using the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the symmetrical
knot that gives Anatolian and Oushak weaving its durability and its slightly relieved, sculptural surface.
The pile is 100% New Zealand wool: long-staple, high-lanolin fibre that resists soil, springs back under
furniture and takes dye with a depth synthetic yarn cannot imitate. Woven in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt by
weavers who have worked this tradition for generations.

THE COLOURWAY
The field is an Aegean cerulean blue carrying visible abrash - the gentle horizontal tonal drift that
happens when wool is dyed in small batches. It is the signature of a genuinely hand-dyed rug and the
reason no two pieces are identical. Across it runs an allover Oushak palmette-and-vine lattice in emerald
and jade green, saffron gold, coral-salmon and ivory, outlined in indigo. A deep peacock-teal main border
carries a rosette meander between narrow guard stripes.
