"WHY THIS RUG
This is a genuine hand-knotted Oushak — not printed, not tufted, not glued. Every knot is tied by hand on a cotton foundation using the Turkish Ghiordes (symmetrical) knot, the same construction Anatolian weavers have used for centuries. It takes months on the loom, and it shows: a dense, even pile with the crisp motif definition only hand-knotting produces.
Woven in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India, by master artisans working in the Ottoman Oushak tradition.

THE PALETTE
The field is a soft antique rose — warm, greyed, and lit from within rather than bright. Across it, an all-over Oushak lattice of palmettes, rosettes and serrated leaves is drawn in mauve, aubergine plum, apricot, terracotta and ivory, with taupe shadowing that gives the pattern depth. The wide main border repeats cartouche-and-vine work in a deeper rose-clay, framed by fine guard stripes.
It reads as a neutral from across the room and as a garden up close. Mauve has become 2026's most talked-about warm neutral, and Pinterest named Plum Noir one of its colors of the year — this rug carries both, softened into something you can actually live with for decades.
WHY NEW ZEALAND WOOL
New Zealand fleece is longer-stapled and higher in lanolin than most alternatives. That lanolin is why the pile resists spills, springs back under furniture, and develops a quiet sheen instead of matting. It is also naturally flame-resistant, biodegradable, and does not off-gas — a real consideration in bedrooms and nurseries.
