"WHAT THIS RUG IS
A hand-knotted Turkish Oushak in 100% New Zealand wool, tied knot by knot on a cotton foundation using the Ghiordes symmetrical knot — the same construction Anatolian weavers have used for six centuries. It is woven in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh by artisans who learned the craft from the generation before them. There is no latex, no cloth backing, no glue. The fringe is the warp itself, hand-finished at both ends.
THE COLOURWAY
The field is a warm clay salmon, alive with natural abrash — the gentle horizontal banding that happens when wool is dyed in small lots and no two skeins land identically. Across it sit large-scale Oushak palmettes, cruciform rosettes and star-flower medallions in butter gold, powder blue, jade, and parchment ivory, with quiet oxblood accents. A wide dusty olive border carries a scrolling vine and rosette repeat, framed top and bottom by parchment guard bands.
It is a transitional palette: warm enough for a farmhouse or a collected, layered room, restrained enough for modern traditional and organic modern interiors.
