Hand-knotted fish rug in 100% New Zealand wool - a pictorial folk-art carpet woven on the Turkish Ghiordes knot, available as a wide hallway runner or a full-size area rug.
Seven fish swim single-file down a field of soft, undyed ivory wool. Every one is drawn differently: one in charcoal and ochre, one in dusty mauve, one in mushroom brown with a striped belly, one in warm camel with a cream eye. They are not stamped from a repeating pattern. Each was worked out knot by knot on the loom, the way pictorial weaving has always been done in the nomadic Anatolian and Gabbeh traditions - the weaver observes something, simplifies it, and tells you about it in wool.
The ground carries a gentle abrash: horizontal tonal shifts in the ivory and greige where the hand-spun yarn changed slightly from batch to batch. It is the same quality Etsy named in its 2026 Texture of the Year, washed linen - tonal variation instead of flat uniformity. A fine taupe diamond-lattice border, drawn in the kilim tradition, frames the whole field and keeps it feeling architectural rather than cute.

COLORWAY
Ivory and oatmeal ground with warm greige abrash. Motifs in mushroom, taupe, camel, ochre gold, dusty mauve, charcoal and soft sage. This is the mushroom-neutral palette Forbes called 2026's leading interior color direction - warm rather than the cool grays of the last decade, and it sits comfortably against oak, brass, linen, rattan and lime-washed walls.

It reads farmhouse, coastal, organic modern, Japandi and collected-bohemian equally well - the palette is quiet enough to sit under almost anything, while the fish give the room something to talk about.
CARE
Vacuum without a beater bar. Rotate twice a year. Blot spills immediately with a white cloth; professional wash every 3-5 years. A rug pad is recommended.
