Hand-knotted in terracotta and sage green, this Turkish Oushak rug brings the warmest palette of 2026 to the floor — 100% New Zealand wool, made to outlive trends.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand on a cotton foundation by weavers in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India, using the symmetrical Turkish Ghiordes knot — the same construction that gives antique Anatolian carpets their density and their spring underfoot. There is no latex or cloth backing, and the fringe is an extension of the warp, not sewn on. That is the difference between a true hand-knotted Oushak and a machine-made lookalike.
THE DESIGN
The field is a warm clay terracotta with soft natural abrash — the gentle horizontal color striation that only comes from hand-dyed, small-batch wool. Across it runs an allover pattern of large angular palmettes, serrated leaves and vine scrolls drawn in ivory, antique gold, celadon and faded rose: the classic Oushak-Serapi design vocabulary, spacious rather than crowded. A deep sage green border with an Ottoman-style palmette band frames the whole piece and grounds all that warmth.
