WHY THIS RUG IS DIFFERENT
Woven entirely by hand in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt of Uttar Pradesh, India, this Oushak carpet is knotted using the symmetrical Turkish Ghiordes knot — the same technique that gave Anatolian village weaving its density and its resistance to wear. Every knot is tied by hand on a cotton foundation. No glue, no latex backing, no machine anywhere in the process.
The pile is 100% New Zealand wool. That matters more than most listings admit. New Zealand fleece carries naturally high lanolin content and a longer staple length, so the pile resists soil, releases spills instead of absorbing them, sheds far less than standard carpet wool, and holds its spring underfoot for decades rather than years.

THE DESIGN
The field runs a warm coral-terracotta, softened by abrash into apricot and clay where the light catches it. Across it travels an angular vine lattice drawn in ivory, carrying large-scale palmettes and rosettes in moss green, teal, sage and deep aubergine. The main border is a saturated indigo-navy filled with curling Ottoman leaf forms, framed by a narrow cream guard band.
That coral-and-indigo pairing is why this piece feels current. Terracotta and clay are among the dominant interior colors of 2026, and designers are pairing them deliberately with midnight blues and forest greens for depth. This rug arrived at that combination through a traditional Anatolian palette — not by chasing it.
WHERE IT WORKS
The warm ground anchors a living room without demanding the room revolve around it, and it reads beautifully against oak, walnut, natural linen, brass and rattan.
