Turkish Oushak Rug 8x10 in Deep Navy Blue, Hand Knotted Wool Area Rug, Camel Gold Floral Border, Ivory Starflower Celestial Design

"A deep lapis navy Turkish Oushak rug, hand knotted in New Zealand wool, with ivory starflowers radiating from an ice blue centre inside a warm gold border.

    HOW IT IS MADE

Tied knot by knot on a cotton foundation by weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt, India, using the Turkish Ghiordes knot - the double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving. No latex, no adhesive, no machine tufting; the fringe is the warp itself. Unlike a flat kilim, this is a full pile with real weight underfoot.

    THE COLOUR, MEASURED

We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. Field: deep lapis navy (#223448). Border: camel gold (#9E835A) shading to umber gold. Accents: sage slate, stone, ivory, rust and a pale ice blue centre. Navy and gold make up about half the surface, so the rug reads clearly across a room, with gentle tonal movement in the field.

If you follow 2026 palettes: saturated, ink-deep blues are back in living rooms, and a navy field with a warm gold frame gives you that depth without going cold.

    THE DESIGN

Oushak in spirit, Anatolian at its root: an ice blue centre ringed with seed-pearl dots, starflowers radiating outward, ivory flower sprays and large rust-and-gold blooms at each side. A dentil guard frames the field, then a gold border of hooked leaves and Ottoman flowers between blue zigzag guards. The star forms echo village and nomadic tribal weaving, scaled for a modern traditional room.

    SPECIFICATION

    - Pile: 100% New Zealand wool on a cotton foundation
    - Knot: hand knotted Turkish (Ghiordes) double knot
    - Ends: warp fringe, no latex, no glue backing
    - Low shedding after the first few vacuums; naturally soil-resistant thanks to the wool's own lanolin
    - Natural, sustainable New Zealand wool, often preferred by allergy-conscious homes; heirloom quality
    - The design reads clearly through to the reverse, a mark of true hand knotting
    - Available in 5x8, 8x10, 9x12, 10x14 and 2.5x13 runner; custom sizes and COM/COL dyeing on request

    WHERE IT WORKS

Under a sofa and two chairs in a living room, in a primary bedroom with the bed two-thirds on, in a book-lined study, or in a coastal home with white walls and brass lighting. The navy field hides everyday traffic well; the gold border lifts in north light.

    CARE

Vacuum without a beater bar, rotate twice a year, blot spills at once, and wash professionally every few years.
