"A charcoal and honey gold mid century modern rug, sized 9x12 to hold a full dining table with every chair pulled out. Hand knotted in wool.
HOW IT IS MADE
Every knot is tied by hand on a cotton foundation by weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt, at about 100 knots per square inch. We use the Turkish (Ghiordes) knot, the double knot behind Anatolian and Oushak weaving. No latex, no glue backing, no machine tufting. The fringe is the warp itself.
THE COLOUR, MEASURED
We colour-sample every piece before we write about it. Field: warm charcoal #4A4741, about 56%. Motifs: ochre gold #B38A55, moving between #A17A47 and #C29A65, about 40%, with an umber outline #736047. Fringe: natural stone #C7C0B6. Fine streaks of lighter and deeper honey run through the gold; the charcoal is even. Three parts dark to two parts gold lets the pattern read from across a room.
If you follow 2026 palettes: it sits between the Neo Deco revival and the amber-caramel warmth designers are pairing with dark neutrals.
THE DESIGN
Seven columns of stacked, turned forms - discs, spheres, bells and slim collars - like turned wooden balusters or abacus beads. A dashed band of nine gold blocks closes each end, the way end panels close an Anatolian kilim. No border: the columns do the framing. A mid century modern drawing, not an Oushak medallion, at home with walnut, leather, brass and linen.
