WHAT YOU ARE BUYING
Hand-knotted one knot at a time on a cotton foundation using the Turkish Ghiordes knot, this is a true pile rug — not tufted, not machine-made, and with no latex or cloth backing. The fringe is the warp of the rug itself, finished by hand rather than stitched on afterwards. Turn a corner over and the design reads clearly through to the reverse, which is the mark of genuine hand-knotted work.

THE COLOURWAY
The field is a dusty rose — a soft, greyed mauve-pink rather than a bright or candy pink. Measured across the pile it sits around #BD838A to #C68F94, warm and low in saturation, the sort of colour that reads as a soft neutral in daylight and deepens to something closer to antique rose under lamplight. Across the open field there is a gentle tonal movement where light catches the wool at different angles — the natural behaviour of hand-spun fibre taking dye, and part of why a hand-knotted rug never looks flat the way a printed one does.
The detailing is deliberately quiet. Small stepped diamonds in a soft slate blue sit at regular intervals along an inner frame, alternating with slim cypress-and-sprig motifs in cream. Rows of fine cream dots run as guard bands top and bottom. Nothing competes for attention — the pattern gives the rug rhythm and handcraft without turning it into a focal point, which is precisely why it layers so well under furniture.
WHY WOOL, AND WHY THIS WOOL
