Most Oushak rugs give you florals. This one gives you a story. Woven into the olive field, among the flowering vines and palmettes, is a small menagerie — cats mid-stride, a russet fox, birds resting on curling stems. They are not loud and they are not cartoonish. You notice them on the second look, and then you cannot stop noticing them. It is the kind of quiet folk-art detail that designers and collectors specifically hunt for, and it is genuinely rare in a hand-knotted wool rug at this scale.
THE COLOUR STORY
A deep olive-moss field carries visible abrash — the soft horizontal tonal banding that happens when wool is dyed in small artisan batches. We name it openly because it is the signature of a real hand-dyed rug, not a flaw to hide. The field is framed by a pale sage-celadon border and finished with narrow pine-teal guard bands. Accents run through coral, dusty rose, mustard gold, slate blue, rust orange, taupe and ivory.

WHY NEW ZEALAND WOOL
New Zealand fleece is longer-stapled and higher in natural lanolin than most rug wool. In practice that means a rug that sheds very little, resists soiling instead of absorbing it, holds its colour, and stays soft rather than going wiry. It is naturally hypoallergenic, flame-resistant and fully biodegradable. This is a rug built to be handed down, not replaced.
